One of the attractions of visiting Sikkim is also seeing some of the most endangered species of animals like the snow leopard, the Himalayan Black Bear, the clouded leopard, musk deer, the Himalayan Tahr and the red panda.

Sikkim is the land of natural beauty with the high mountains and deep valleys and also most beautiful lakes, landscape and breathtaking sceneries. Yumthang Valley, Nathu La Pass, Zuluk, Pelling, Ravangla, Namchi, Gurudongmar Lake, Tsomgo Lake, Kupuk lake, Aritar Lake and One of the third highest lake, Cholamu Lake, are worthy visiting places.

Sikkim is not ahead in attracting the visitors who are adventurous. Hiking trail towards North or South Sikkim, one can also enjoy paragliding in Gangtok.

USEFUL TIPS



By Rail: Being a mountain state, the only nearest rail station is in New Jalpaiguri, West Bengal which is around 126 km from Gangtok. Private cabs, taxis and buses take you from the station to the capital in approx 5-6 hrs.

By Air: Sikkim has no airport. Bagdogra is the only nearest airport which is around 125 km from Gangtok. Bus, cabs takes around 4-5 hrs to reach Gangtok from airport. Helicopter service has started recently from Bagdogra which takes approx. 35 minutes to reach.

By Road: Sikkim is well connected to major towns via siliguri. An enthralling road is well maintained by NH 31A. The distance is around 115 km.
